royal, raunchy, and rent-free
a Katee Robert duet that ruined me in the best way possible

It's 2 AM, you're wrapped in your favorite blanket, and your Kindle brightness is turned down so low you're practically reading by braille. Why? Because you just discovered Katee Robert's Twisted Hearts series, and now sleep is for the weak.
Today, we're diving into the deliciously scandalous world of Katee Robert's Forever Theirs and Theirs Ever After – a duet that had me questioning my life choices, my morals, and whether one could actually move to a fictional kingdom. (Spoiler: still researching)
Quick & Dirty Details:
Series Name & Author: Twisted Hearts by Katee Robert
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (yes, all five. Fight me.)
Tropes: Royal Romance, Forbidden Love, True Triad, Found Family, MMF
Content Warnings: Political intrigue, danger, explicit content that'll make your Kindle spontaneously combust
Listen, if you've ever thought, "You know what would make this royal romance better? TWO royals falling in love with a commoner but make it modern," then honey, grab your crown because this duet is about to ruin all other books for you.
These two are the first and only duet in the Twisted Hearts series, and there’s even a short novella (Theirs For the Night) that sets up these two books that you can read before or after you finish the duet. I did the latter and was extremely satisfied.
If you are into royal romance, forbidden romance, a true triad relationship, with all the steam you could ever want? Stop what you are doing right now and go read these beautiful works of art. They are perfection!
Katee knows how to write stories that drag you in deep. These characters are so beautifully developed that this triad lives in my head rent-free. I’ve easily read this duet 4-5 times because it just gets better with every read.
Why does this duet live in my head rent-free?
The chemistry is explosive enough to warrant its own hazard warning
Character development that makes you actually care about fictional people's happiness
Political intrigue that doesn't bore you to tears
Spicy scenes that should come with their own fire department hotline
What sets this duet apart?
Most royal romances give you a prince and a happily ever after. Katee Robert said, "Hold my wine," and gave us:
An exiled King and his bodyguard (because sharing is caring)
A heroine who's actually relatable
Political drama that doesn't make you want to skip pages
Steam that'll fog up your reading glasses
Now for the plot!
Meg has been dealt a hard lot in life. Her childhood was less than ideal, and her current life was on the verge of hitting rock bottom. She just wants to finish her degree, start a safe, reliable job as an accountant, and live her life with the stability she always craved as a child.
Her world view gets thrown on its head when she meets Theo and Galen at a club on her birthday. With the lights low, sensual music playing up her desires, and the liquid courage pushing her worries aside, she gives in to the duo's advances and spends the night with them.
One night, what could it hurt, right? Famous last words, if you ask me…
Even months later, all Meg can think about is the duo, and the feeling is very much mutual. We start the first book with Theo surprising Meg at work because he just couldn’t stay away any longer. Meg and Galen agree that this can never be forever, but their chemistry is so strong they can’t help falling into bed together again.
But this time…everything changes.
Meg becomes a target of Theo and Galen’s enemies, and now they must do whatever they can to keep her safe while accomplishing their goal of getting Theo rightfully back on the throne in Thalania.
I promise this royal romance breaks all the rules while stealing your heart (and possibly your virtue), and this duet needs to be next on your TBR. Trust me, your Kindle will thank you…your productivity might not.
This story weaves a beautiful tale of how true love conquers all, and I highly recommend it! You won’t be disappointed, and I bet it becomes a yearly read for you as it has for me.
So, will Meg step into the unknown and give up the safe life she’s always dreamed of to follow her heart? Or will she leave Galen and Theo as a beautiful memory once their time together is up?
Guess you'd better read the book to find out.
